"I used this amazing product and I grew so much hair
on my head I had to get a haircut twice a week!"
We all know – or should know – that some of the product reviews that we read online are not real – they’ve been created by competitors to boost or slam a product.
A couple of marketing professors (Duncan Simester of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Eric Anderson of Northwestern University) did a study where they found that five percent of the reviews posted for products on two sites had never purchased the product.
Strangely, those reviews were "significantly more negative" than other reviews.
