The mirrored illusion of being underwater

The mirrored illusion of being underwater
Fathom Mirror

To honor the victims of Hurricane Sandy, designer Joe Doucet created a simple piece called "Fathom Mirror", a round mirror that’s been tinted blue on the bottom to represent water. When someone walks by, they look as though they’re walking underwater. The subtle detail that makes it work? The bottom half representing water is angled slightly to mimic the different angle of refraction between water and air.
