Where’s the fakery in this bloody sports incident? |
Tom Williams of the Harlequins rugby team cut his lip during a match.
Why did his cut lip cost his team £259,000?
(It was during Europe’s Heineken Cup match against Leinster.)
Because it wasn’t a real cut. It was fake.
Because he used a fake blood capsule on the field.
Because later, the team doctor sliced his lip with a scalpel to make it real.
Why did he do this? His cut allowed a specialist goal-kicker to replace him on the field to try and win the match.
They lost anyway.
The player, the team doctor and the director of rugby got into a wee bit of trouble.
