"Censors tend to do what only psychotics do: they confuse reality with illusion." - David Cronenberg
Cronenberg’s 1996 film Crash had many troubles with the censors for its depictions of characters who have made a fetish of auto crashes. It’s a movie about people obsessed with something, who live their lives for that obsession. It might explain the emotions underlying one of the "reasons" people lie and deceive – they’ve become obsessed with the thrill, and the risk, and their status as renegade outsiders who have the freedom to do whatever they want.
