High School Spies on Student with Laptop Camera (Officials: "We regret the situation")"A Lower Merion family has set off a furor among students, parents, and civil liberties groups by alleging that Harriton High School officials used a webcam on a school-issued laptop to spy on their 15-year-old son at home.

The official response:

"Our history has been to go to great lengths to protect the privacy of our students, whether it comes to student health, academic or other records. Privacy is a basic right in our society and a matter we take very seriously. We believe that a good job can always be done better."
