The study had subjects make contradictory statements about an issue, and the results were then evaluated by experts using the system. The expert examiners had rates similar to chance, from 42-56%. And 40-65% of the time the results were false positives, where the examiners thought the subjects had lied when they had not.
The lie detector, run by experts, was no better than chance.
