A French documentary illustrates how much participants in a fake TV game show are willing to obey authority.
The show repeats a famous experiment done in 1961 by Stanley Milgram at Yale University. Called the Milgram Experiment, more subjects than expected choose to shock the actor. Milgram theorized that the subjects were either conforming to the group, or felt they were no longer responsible.
Christophe Nick, the maker of the TV documentary, said that "with Milgram, 62% of people obeyed an abject authority. In the setting of television, it’s 80%."
